Hermana Conference - Part I

Twenty-four Hermanas arrived on July 4th for a day long conference. I prepared for days and days cooking and such. A big thanks goes to the Assistants for their preparations and help during the entire day. We had a fun day with these sister missionaries. The intense screaming started as soon as they entered the bus terminal in Antofagasta and didn't end until they all boarded their buses back to their sectors. I felt at times like I needed ear plugs for the high pitched screaming but that's what you get with a house full of girls.

They organized their name plaques on the grass for a "group" photo.

There were plenty of hugs to go along with the screaming as they came into the mission home. Many of the sisters have never met, some haven't seen each other for a year and others just scream for the pure joy of making noise.

The day's dress was P-day casual and these two showed up with smiles and jeans.

Hermana Warner came to the house carrying her pillow, which she used on the 10 hour bus ride down from Arica. How cute is her pillowcase? It was her birthday present from me. I made pillowcases for each missionary for their birthday.

We hired a shuttle service for transporting the missionaries because even with our three mission cars, we didn't have enough room to drive them everywhere. This is the finest shuttle service available in Antofagasta.

I took my turn driving as we headed to the bowling alley for a tournament.

Elder Duerden drove the Explorer with Leland as the passengar.

Posing for pictures is a favorite pastime for all missionaries.

We started the day with breakfast: breakfast egg casseroles, muffins, fruit salad and juice.

Because it was July 4th, I displayed all USA Independence Day decorations that I could.

Leland is often seen posing with our shortest missionaries. They really are tiny.

Yum!!! There are Almond Poppy Seed muffins that are leftover.

Hermana Portillo and Hermana Montandon. For more pics see our Mission Blog.

The assistants wore their matching Viva Chile shirts and coordinating aprons all day. What troopers they were. Love them all!!!

Snickerdoodles for the Bowling Tournament.

Hermana's Conference banner with photo booth props.

We had a cooking demonstration for some delish Gooey two layered brownies. Recipe coming soon.
