News from Argentina and the Parable of the Mondongo

Trevor sent us some pictures this week in his email. I know they are random, but they give us a look at his life on his mission in Argentina. He is still serving in Clorinda which is on the border of Argentina and Paraguay.

Here is Trevor sweeping up what looks like part of the wall. Don't know the story, but I'm sure there is one.

Sending us a happy "buenas dias" from Clorinda.

Tracting in the rain, or as he calls it "clapping."

Trevor sent us this parable in his letter. I'm sure it's an experience most foreign Elder's have lived through.

So once upon a time Elder bruce and Elder thomas were on their way to their district meeting and they see a less active hermana. She was going around taking orders from people because she was selling food. The food was called Locro, its a type of soup. So Elder Bruce and Elder Thomas decided to support the hermana and buy 2 portions for 3 pesos each. After the district meeting they go by the hermanas house and find that she had cooked the soup in her backyard in a huge pot. She gave them the 2 portions and they return back to the apartment. As they sit down to eat they notice that there was a lot of unusual meat floating around. Elder Bruce commented to Elder Thomas that he thought that it was mondongo because he said he could see a Little tube in the soup. (for those of you Reading, mondongo is cow intestine). So the Elders immediately start to laugh and joke about how they bought the mondongo. They start to take pictures and film videos of the nasty looking locro. Elder Bruce challenged Elder Thomas to try it and he did with difficulty. Elder Bruce received the same challenge and did it also, and after a gag he got it down. (remember that this was cooked in a backyard of this poor hermana.) So long story short, 2 hours after proselyting, Elder Bruce had an emergency and needed to return to the apartment, and the 2 elders remained there for the rest of the day.

Moral of the story
1.) If you can avoid mondongo, do it
2.) If you can't avoid it, don't buy it from someone who cooks it in their backyard
3.) If you cant follow morals 1 and 2, be sure you have soft toilet paper and good air freshener spray (we recommend Glades ¨I love you¨ scent)

Good parable and good advice. Life is good for Elder Bruce in Argentina.
