Leland and I have recently been called as the Stake Coordinators for a pilot program called The Daily Dose. This program is designed to teach English to native Spanish speakers. We have six teachers, called facilitators, who rotate teaching the students, and the classes, called huddles, last 30 minutes each. Tonight was our first class and we had seven members of the Spanish Branch show up 5 minutes early for their first lesson.
Tonight's lesson included teaching such phrases as "My name is...", What is your name?", "I live in San Juan Capistrano", and "Where do you live?" The challenge is teaching the students how to pronounce the words correctly. And the look on their faces when they learn the concepts is priceless. I love watching their eyes light up and the crooked smiles on their faces when they ask and answer the questions and understand what they are saying.
As we were ending the evening one gentleman named Felipe came up to me and said "Goodbye Tracy. Nice to meet you." He was grinning from ear to ear when he said it. This is going to be a wonderful experience for Leland and I as we watch these humble folks grasp English. What a blessing for us to serve.

That is so cool! It almost made me cry to read about Felipe. They probably think it is so neat to be able to speak English and do it correctly.
