HELLO FAMILY!
So first of all, my best friend for basically my whole life has a
mission call and I havent heard anything yet! C'mon family, I´m out in the
boonies here and you're my only source of information haha. But
anyways, hows it goin? How was conference for you guys? I loved it!!! Every
second! It was so cool doing the sustaining; when we were doing it,
I thought that, mom and dad are doing the same thing at this exact
moment, cool. Haha. Yeah we watched it at the same time as you, the
morning session started at 1, so it was a little different but cool, and
yes we got to watch it in English, so that was way cool. We had our own
little room we had with a little tv, so we got the hook up. Mom, I also
really liked Elder Oaks talk. But my favorite one would probably have
to be President Uchtdorf's about the ¨degrees¨ and how little things
can have big effects. I love that cuz I always teach the inactives that
it´s by "small and simple things that great things are brought to
pass¨ (Alma 37:6-7). Yeah I loved conference. It was the first time
in my entire life where I have watched all the sessions! It was awesome.
And watching the ¨world news¨ right after, was like the most exciting
thing ever for us haha, getting to see the world and stuff and
especially cuz it was related to the church. Good times.

So last Thursday, I got SUPER sick. I had the flu. The first sickness
of the mission. Wednesday during the night, I had a huge head ache and
so much body pains. Just felt like every inch in my body was bruised. So
I woke up Thursday and I said, I won't get better by staying in bed cuz
I gotta be obedient, so what did I do¨? I did my exercises. So me and
Elder Melander got out the weights and pulled the bench (that we made)
and started lifting and he kept on commenting that I didn't look very
good haha, so I just said I´m just going to take a shower and see how
I feel. So I take a shower, get out and feel like crap. So then I
said, I'm going to sleep during language study (8-9 in the morning) so I
did. And I woke up at 9 and said I can't work today, something is wrong
with me. So I slept for the entire day, literally the entire day. I was
sweating of course cuz it was 90 degrees in the apartment, and I had a
pounding head, worse than I´ve ever had. So I woke up at about 7 that
night and called Hermana Shakespear and asked her what to do and she
just said drink water and rest and that I probably have the flu. so I went
back to bed and then woke up about 15 times during the night with
diahhrea. And note, that when I move just a little bit, my head pounds. so I
was in pain. I got through the night and I woke up and told Elder
Melander I was going to sleep til siesta (12:00).
Then I woke up feeling the same and said, we gotta go visit people, conference is tomorrow and we need investigators there. So I take an immodium (which Hna Shakespear told me not to) cuz I had to, to stop the you know what. So we get out there, we are about 3 km away from the apartment, and its about 2 hours after we left and we had visited about 3 families. And we were walking to our last person and I said, ¨Elder, we gotta go back now, and I
mean NOW!¨ hahaha. You can figure out what happened haha. Oh and
speaking of explosions, I exploded in my garments, in my bed Thursday night! just thought I'd throw that in there to liven things up haha. But during conference I just sat there, had really bad stomach cramps Saturday so on Sunday about 3 members made me their family remedies to drink. I probably drank about 3 cups of dirt (so they think) haha. I had sips of each of them but once they went away, the plants got some free water haha.

But don't worry now, I´m fine now. I'm still lacking a little bit
of energy, but I´m fine. I´m working hard, teaching a lot, and loving
it. And I hope you caught what Elder Bednar said about how
¨missionaries are full time teachers, but the members are full time finders.¨ How
bout that! When he said that I just thought ¨um, can we rewind that
and make sure everyone was listening?¨ hahaha

The investigators are making me mad cuz none of them went to conference
and I risked my life and a good pair of pants to go visit them. They
all said they wanted to but things came up. I´m like, you had 4
different sessions to choose from. Oh well. What are you going to do? But we
had a bomb lesson last night. We were getting a little annoyed with a
family (or at least I was) so I was like Elder Melander this is what were
going to do. So I brought a string to a lesson and I said that this
string represents our life. And then I tied a knot like a foot into it
(like a 5 foot string) and I said this dot represents our life here on the
earth and after is the eternities. Then I asked, is this a lot of
time? And they said no of course. So I shared a scripture with them that
said this is time is a time to prepare to meet god (alma 34:32) and I
said what do we need to do in this life and they said ¨seguir la palabra
de dios¨ haha. So then we got into baptism and that we need to be
baptized to enter into Gods kingdom. So I related the dot to the
eternities and I said, if we don't get baptized and suck it up for this little
time and if we screw up here, after, that's a long time to not live
with God. And so me and Elder Melander got them pumped on baptism. And
we asked them what they want us to do to help them and they all said
nothing ya know, and this 14 year old said ¨dirigirnos, guirnos¨ or
¨lead us, guide us.¨ I´m like "this kid is a stallion!"
So that was our bomb lesson, I tried to explain in a few words cuz I´m
getting tired of typing, I still gotta right all my girlfriends! Haha
no just kidding.
But I gotta go, I love you family! Be good! And keep the missionaries
there obedient! Haha, don't bend the rules for them mom hahaha.
Love you!!
Chau chau!
Elder Bruce
