They Called Us On A Mission

We entered the MTC on Wednesday, June 23rd. Dallas entered with us and began his eight weeks of training. Leland and I were there only until Sunday but those 4 1/2 days were jam packed. This picture was taken just before we dropped off Dallas at a side door. He entered early in the morning with us and was there with only 1 or 2 other missionaries. No fanfare, just left him at a side door with a sweet lady. Actually it fits Dallas´personality perfectly.

On Sunday we attended Sacrament with all the Mission President couples and President Monson presided and spoke. Dallas was asked to administer the sacrament along with a few other missionaries. He was honored to be chosen to bless the sacrament and sat on the front row to hear our dear prophet. After the meeting we took him to lunch in the cafeteria with us and then we escorted him back to his district and companion. This picture is just before we said our final good byes. He is doing so well and is very happy.

Dallas and his companion, Elder Christianson.

This is a picture of the four couples called to serve in various missions in Chile. From left to right: the Kings, the MacArthur´s and the Humphrey´s. They are new best friends and we all became so close during our training seminar and our long flights down to the mission field.

Like Father - Like Son. They really are so much alike.

Arriving at the SLC airport for the firstleg of our long journey. How handsome is this Mission President?

The flights down to Chile were all delayed and all extra long in duration. We lost only one piece of luggage (mine of course, but it´s been found and should arrive by bus by tomorrow) and had hours of delay but we finally boarded the last flight to Antofagasta.

Welcome to Antofagasta. We were greeted by Presidente and Hermana Urra and the AP´s, Elder Rahde and Elder Skene. Their day was a long as ours, I´m sure. I was so happy to finally arrive.

Now we´ve unpacked the bags we have and the works begins. I already love the missionaries I´ve met and can´t wait to meet them all.

Soooooooo glad you're blogging again, Sis. Bruce! I am beyond thrilled for you and Bishop - can't wait to read all about your Chilean adventures. Such a great country, from what my friends who served there have said. Make sure you try a completa (it's a Chilean staple - like a hot dog, only AMAZING). You two will be in my prayers! Lots of love!
