My Quirky Life

Time to share some of the quirky things around our house. These things remind me that I am not in the United States anymore. Enjoy!!!

The light fixtures and the light bulbs don´t match. There is bright light and no light. Nothing in between. I´ll be changing fixtures soon to update the look.

I´ve got matching light fixtures like the one below. Are you jealous yet?

This is the one plug in my bathroom. Yes, I said one plug.

And this is where it is located. I have to be careful when I use the blow dryer. The toilet lid must be down or else...

This is the Chilean plug. I think it is foreign not weird.

This is my oven/stove. It works like a camp stove. I have to push a button while turning the dials. On the other side of the kitchen is an electric oven for those times when I´m out of propane.

The exhaust fan for the stove. Not too obvious is it?

The paper towels are dwarf sized. About 8 inches tall. I think they are kinda cute.

The bathroom downstairs has a tiny shower. I don´t know if you can tell, but it is three feet long. It looks like something in an RV.

This is the source of all hot water and the gas for the stove. I asked my maid when I need to replace them and she said when the water doesn´t get hot. I hope that it doesn´t happen when we are showering.

I told you earlier that the Chilean´s love their mayonaisse. And that it comes in bags. On Tuesday I had to make sandwiches for the arriving missionaries and this was my mayo. Check out the screw top lid just to the right of the bag. You just squeeze the mayo out of the bag and spread on the bread.

Sandwiches for a crowd. Notice how the mayo is yellow. It tastes the same as yours at home but it looks like butter. The ranch dressing I made Tuesday night turned out yellow too. But it was delicious. The Elders loved it.

Well so ends the first installment of Quirky in Chile. I´ll post more fun pics soon.

This is hilarious. Can't wait to shower in the downstairs one. :) I forgot to ask you if you have a bath in your shower.

Wow, the lighting is awesome. And yes, please don't electrocute yourself.

Every time I read a post I think about how lucky these missionaries are to have you two. I bet Jillian, Ash and the boys are overwhelmed with how wonderful their parents are.
