Adios Elder Vincent

Trevor wrote us a great letter this week. He's on fire!! His trainer, Elder Vincent was transferred and he received a new companion, Elder Melander, and the two of them are dominating.

Here's a picture of Trevor and Elder Vincent right before the transfer. I love the detail in the background: the little boy, the signs, etc. It gives me a feeling for where Trevor is living.

Trevor snapped this shot in the internet cafe where he was writing his weekly letter. He's with his new comp: Elder Melander. How good does Trevor look?

Excerpts from Trevor's latest letter:

Hey family!

So I dunno if I told you but my new comps name is Elder Melander. He is a freakin stallion. He has been cooped up in the office for the last 6 months so he is so excited to be out and working full time en el campo! He is from Spanish Fork, UT...so yes mom I can understand him haha. He is a really good elder, really obedient and really organized and clean (which Elder Vincent wasn't haha...well he was obedient of course). So our first week together was amazing. We set 8 baptismal dates!! We are so stoked. I´ll tell you about the investigators a little later on. But Elder Melander thinks I speak really well, I think I´m ok cuz I can understand the people mas o menos. But he thinks in 2 transfers I´ll be training. So I have made that as a goal, to train (or to be able to train) within 2 transfers! One of my zone leaders thinks I can do it too. He is kinda mad that I can speak cuz I have already given 2 blessings to people and my zone leader didn't get to give a blessing until he had about a year haha. But dont worry, every night when I kneel down to pray every night, I sincerely give thanks to the Lord for blessing me. Its funny, sometimes when I´m talking I think, ¨Hey I´m speaking spanish!¨hahaha its pretty funny. But yeah that's coming along really well.

Alright so now to answer your questions. Yes in the province of Misiones, the dirt is red like that everywhere! And there are hills! Its the only province in the mission that has hills and red dirt. So I wasn't kidding when I said my shoes están hecho percha! And yes we have a piano in our building and one of the zone leaders can play, so its really nice. My first transfer here, no one knew how to play so now the members know how the songs are actually sang hahah. And as for my dreams, yes I am dreaming in spanish. I have been dreaming in spanish since Dec 21st in the MTC haha. I remember that was my first dream in spanish, it was a good journal entry hahaha.

So now let's talk about our investigators. Like I said we have 8 people with baptismal dates. There is the Family Morino (5) and a girl named María and the family Torres (2). And soon we are planning on having 2 more this upcoming week. So the Morino family are awesome. They have been coming to church for the past 4 weeks. The family is Mario and his girlfriend Evelin (not married but have 2 kids), Mario´s little sisters Nancy and Claudia, and Marios´s older sister Delia. They all have agreed to get baptized on May 10th. That means I most likely won't be here. Buts thats ok. And Mario and Evelin are planning on getting married by the end of the month. They are all awesome. They always read and they have their answers and everything we just need to get them married and in the water and dunk them under haha. María is awesome! We found her about a week ago and she already has her answer and wants to get baptized. We went to her house two days ago and said hey we aren't really supposed to teach single women and she was like ¨yeah something was telling me last time that it wasnt right that
you were teaching me alone.¨ So we totally got her respect and everything. She is going to go to conference with us this weekend and yeah, we are way excited!

And the family Torres. This is a family we didn't even expect to progress. We were just sitting in Sunday School and all of a sudden they walk in!  So we were like ok, we're setting a baptism date hahaha. And they accepted. It is a mom and her daughter and her daughter is like a genius when it comes to the bible and shes only 15. She's like the Bruce R McConkie of the Bible. Ok not that smart but yeah haha.

But we have a lot of other investigators we are teaching. I´m really excited for this transfer with Elder Melander, freakin stud! And I havent been updating you up on this, but I have moved up a size on my belt! So yes Elder Bruce is gaining weight haha.

Well family (and who ever else reads this I love you!)  AND HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MOM AND DAD!

Whatta guy!!! Seriously, reading his letter gets me a little excited for seven years down the road. What an example of a great missionary he is. Gotta love him.
