We've had a mouse invasion at our house. Last Friday I opened my trash compactor and a mouse jumped out and ran behind the cupboard below the sink. Then later that day I opened the compactor again and a mouse was sitting on the edge of the compactor and it jumped inside. That was enough for me. After the screaming ended and dogs stopped barking, I called Leland and told him he needed to catch the mouse.
Forward to Saturday. We headed to DeNault's (who doesn't love DeNault's?) and bought some sticky traps. The guys at DeNault's said San Juan is covered with mice. Not what I wanted to hear. So Leland set a trap inside the compactor and within one hour had caught a mouse. YEAH!! Problem solved...WRONG. He put out another trap and another mouse caught in the next hour. By Sunday night he had trapped seven (count them, 7) mice. It is so gross.
So yesterday, Monday, we didn't catch any mice in the four sticky traps. I thought it was safe to go back into the kitchen. But I came home from school today and Dallas informed me there was a mouse in a trap by the dishwasher. It was still alive and squeaking. So Dallas and I had to get the trap into a ziplock bag and into the trash. Thank heavens for BBQ tongs, which are really long. He picked up the sticky trap with the tongs, put it in a waiting ziplock and took it out to the trash. All the while I was behind the island in the kitchen squealing.
So now we've caught eight mice. How many more are there? When can I go back into the kitchen? Has anyone else had mice problems this year?

That is so gross! Eight mice????
That's almost as bad as the time both dad and Jilly woke up with holes in their pants because they'd been sharing a bed with a rat.
Maybe you guys should get your house tented or something. We've got a full bed with your name on it. :) Dad would fit perfectly!
Trace... did you see my posts around Christmas with our creepy rodents? I HATE them. They make me feel dirty! We caught two and luckily haven't had any since. We have had a serious ANT problem since we moved into our house though. Any suggestions for that? Like Ash said, I will never forget Jilly with the rats in her bed. Tell Dallas NOT to wear flannel pj pants to sleep at night. Maybe you should go buy him a pair of those blanket sleepers with the feet... SO funny! Hopefully your mice will leave soon. I think it must be mating season for all these little critters!
Summer: Dallas bought himself a pair of footed pj's at Christmas and wore them all the time.
For ants, try Grant's Kills Ants. These little metal stakes contain arsenic which is great. They're safe around kids and if you put them around the house you'll see less ants in the house.
Oh gross! So glad I moved. Just Kidding. At least they're not rats eating Jillian's pajama bottoms while she sleeps. I'll never forget that one! I HATE rodents!!! Yuck. Hope you got 'em all!
