News From Eldorado Argentina

Today we received three emails from Elder Bruce. The first was to the family: see excerpts below; the second was pictures he downloaded, which I've included;  and the third was an email to his Dad. You can't imagine how excited I was to see pictures of my son and Elder. He looks the same, down to the hair style and he looks really happy. Trevor didn't give any commentary to his pictures so I'll make some up and give captions to each picture.

Here is a picture of Trevor and his companion, Elder Vincent, in their apartment.  See their towels hanging to dry?  It may seem like Trevor just got out of the shower but I think he just came inside from a downfall of rain.  Both he and Elder Vincent are dripping wet.  You gotta love tropical weather.

I think this must be a picture of a member of the Branch that Trevor is serving in because this brother isn't wearing a nametag.  If it is, the church building is better than any building we have in San Juan Capistrano.  (hint, hint, we don't have a building)

Trevor is lucky to live in the missionary zone that includes the world famous Iguazu  Falls.  He has visited them on his P-day twice since arriving in the country.  Here he is with his companion at the falls.  Notice the local looking shirts.  Go Argentina!!  How cute does Trevor look with his little flip in his hair?

The Tourist, Elder Bruce, at Iguazu Falls.  What a beautiful part of the world.  And I love his nametag pinned to his t-shirt.

This picture reminds me of pictures from Leland's mission.  Here he is hanging out with his companion and some local kids.  Isn't this picture stereotypical of missionary life?  I love it. He's a real missionary.

Here are some excerpts from Trevor's latest emails.   Enjoy!!!

Hey, I got the package and they called me from the office and told me it was a miracle that it arrived ha ha.  And the usb camera thing isn't working.  But yeah thanks for the cook book, I made pancakes today and they were good.  But I don't have any syrup which is a bummer.  And mom you said I should spend some money and go out to dinner cuz its not against the rules, wel it is ha ha.  We leave the apartment at nine in the morning and get in at 12:30 for siesta and then we study, and eat and stuff (we have lunch appointments about once a week, cuz that's the big meal here) and then leave the apartment at 4 and work til 9.  And then at 9 we plan then if we have time before (10:30) we can eat.  So there is no time to go out to eat dinner ha ha.  And there's nowhere to eat.  I don't think you guys understand, I'm not around restaurants and stuff like that.  The closest thing is the casino and that isn't even in our area so year ha ha and I'm living in the sticks.  The only thing I got that most of the other Elder's don't have is a washing machine.  I went and bought one for the pinch cuz I am WAY too lazy to hand wash my clothes.

So I saw the pictures (thanks by the way I loved them) and I noticed in the picture of Dallas and Ava that Dallas is wearing my shorts.  That little terd haha.  But I spent seriously 40 minutes trying to log on cuz myldsmail is retarded, so I am running out of time and Elder Vincent and I have to take a bus back to our apartment to study so I gotta wrap this up.  But know that I love you all and that I'm loving the mission.  I promise I'll write more next week. Love you!

Now I'll include news from the letter that was sent to Leland:

...I've already given 2 talks here and I taught Sunday School last.  Fifteen minute talks on the spot, piece of cake, an hour lesson on the spot, not so easy ha ha.  But I did it.  I taught about the expiacion, that's atonement if you don't remember.  You had your lessons memorized so you got out the easy way; I have to speak the words according to the spirit and sometimes people don't understand the words from the spirit hahaha.  But the language is coming along.  I'm starting to understand people alot better!  And I think next Wednesday at transfers Elder Vincent will leave and I will get a Latino as a comp which would be a huge blessing because it would help me learn the language muchisimo mejor!!

So something I forgot to mention in the email is that last week we had interviews with president.  It was really cool.  Everyone always says they get kinda nervous and scared to go in the room alone with president, but I love it!  Me and Him get along really well and I feel like I'm getting so close to him.  I wish he would be here for the whole mish, but he is getting released in June and President Castillo from Buenos Aires will be coming, so that will be cool! At least I'll have the language down by the time he gets here, so I won't have any trouble communicating with him.

Le amo! Este bien!

That first picture looks like they just got in from pouring rain. He looks SO good! I'm sad that the USB cord isn't working. How did he send the pictures?

He looks great... he's like a legit missionary. I love it.

He sent the pictures later than the email and I'm thinking he figured out to use the USB port because the email said, "I got it." I'm just glad we can get pics now. And I think he looks great too.

Wow! As hard as it must be to send off a missionary . . . these e-mails must make everything OK. It sounds like Trevor is really growing and maturing. I'm really impressed with his determination too. I would do ANYTHING it took to get a washing machine too! Way to go Trevor!

Actually. . . the last comment was from me (Debbie Stapley). I don't know why Amanda's name showed up. I think I fixed it.
